DJ 2Could you imagine a wedding, a wedding reception, a party or major event period without the best wedding DJ? Music dictates the ambiance for the occasion. It sets the tone for the ceremony. It makes people want to dance or moves people to the point of tears. Music is the life of the party. A great DJ bring that music and skills to the table, mixing the best jams and setting it off. If a great DJ is doing their job, everyone’s happy. People love having a good time, hearing that perfect song, or when the party lasts all night and remains live from start until the last call. If there is an event of any kind, the best bet is to hire a professional DJ. Don’t trust a nephew with an iPod and hope for the best.

Most DJs bring their own equipment. It depends on the ceremony, occasion event and especially the venue. The DJ may not need certain items. For the most part these are the pieces of equipment a great DJ usually need to get going: 2 x CD (Vinyl) turntables, DJ Mixer, DJ headphones, Computer (Laptops), DJ interface package (such as Serato Scratch Live, Tracktor Scratch, etc.) Pioneer, Allen & Heath, M-audio, Technics, Vestax, and Numark are all reputable brands that make DJ equipment mixers and turntables alike. Smaller venues may not have speakers so some DJs bring PA systems to events in case. Others bring microphones to MC events or do call & response exercises with the crowd. A good example of call and response would be Fat Man Scoop in “Breath in, Breath out”. At clubs and parties to really get the mood on point, some DJs bring laser lighting equipment and smoke machines. All to set the stage for what’s about to go down.

DJs gigging at weddings and wedding receptions is routine if not mandatory.  This like other gigs is an opportunity to make that best of their equipment. One of the most important days of anyone’s life can easily be named a wedding.  Needless to say it is imperative DJs comes with their A game. It’s all about the music. For those magical moments, a great Ds has to spin the perfect records. For weddings, it’s recommended to create a playlist of slow dancing romantic and unforgettable songs. Show the list to the couple. Most likely, the couple will have suggestions of special songs that mean a lot to them. It’s also good to know what kind of music the friends and family would like at the reception. Make sure you have a meeting with a couple to cross the T’s and dot the I’s.

DJing parties and clubs is a whole different animal in itself. The DJ has a world of more freedom to play the music they want. They could experiment break new songs or lively up the room with crowd favorites. Usually different audiences have different preferences. To keep the crowd on the dance floor, the DJ must use discretion and good judgment.

Everybody loves a great DJ. They are the heart beat of the party. DJing is a lot easier with the right equipment and a playlist that makes your audience feel just right. But when it’s all said and done, you gotta have the skills to pay the bills. And the best DJs are masters on the wheels of steel.

You are so right man. A DJ really needs to be right up there in his craft, especially when the occasion is as important as the wedding. The whole list of friends and relatives are enjoying the time and dancing to the tunes of DJ’s — who makes sure that everyone present in the wedding have a gala time. You can’t for anything in the world mess with the music in your wedding by appointing a amateur DJ who can really make a mess of everything. So, my advice would be that everyone should hire a professional DJ (like DJ Mark Anthony) who will really give you the time of your life. That’s because we are talking about the professionals here who are in the game for far too long and are experienced to a T.
